Planting Churches
Out of Christ Church Birmingham, which launched in 2021 in the area of South Aston, a wider movement of
church planting has been birthed, known as Birmingham and Beyond.
In July 2023,
Gracecity Church began meeting in a home in Maypole, south Birmingham. Now led by Abdullah Jamal and Steve Wicking, this plant aims to serve the Muslim communities in Moseley and Balsall Heath. Additionally, Christ Church Birmingham took over a church building in Walsall in 2024, where Coral Cook III established
Redemption Hill to revitalize the area with the Gospel. Due to its growth, another building was offered in West Bromwich, where in 2024, Brian and Sarah Sidwell started
Living Hope Church.
Birmingham and Beyond, led by Steve Whittington and team, seeks to plant multiple
intercultural churches centered on the Gospel and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Male elders will oversee, with a vision to plant more churches and revitalize struggling congregations. Church buildings that were once preaching the Gospel in Birmingham have been turned into mosques, pubs and housing. We want to reverse this trend by resowing the Gospel once again in these communities. We hope to see people from the nations in Birmingham and Beyond come to know Jesus, be disciples, and be trained to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
